    Join us for this important presentation on navigating Social Security and Medicare benefits.  David J. Melton, Public Affairs Specialist for the Social Security Administration will provide a comprehensive overview of the Social Security program  tips for supporting employees approaching retiement and Medicare eligibility and enrollment for retiring and working employees as well as Social Security Administration resources just for HR professionals.  Improve your benefit strategis by understanding how Medicare interacts with employeer sponsored health plans mand how Social Security Benefits are impacted by early retirement or working past 65. 

    Mr. Melton began his career with the Social Security Administration in September 1976. In 2005, Mr. Melton was selected as a Public Affairs Specialist for the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area.  As a member of a 2-person public information team working in cooperation with 14 offices serving the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, he is involved in a variety of public affairs activities. Through the establishment and maintenance of networks of working relationships, he consults with a wide variety of media outlets, governmental entities, special interest groups and key employers.   He ensures the public is properly informed as to the solvency, direction and purpose of Social Security Administration programs.  Mr. Melton also served as the Acting District Manager of the Martinsburg WV District Office on two occasions.

     

    Mr. Melton is a Past-President of the Advisory Council to the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging (SAAA) and is a past member of the Board of Directors of SAAA and the Shenandoah Valley Independent Living Center (now Access Independence).  He currently serves as a member of the Money Management Advisory Council with Loudoun Caregivers, Inc. in Leesburg, VA.
