    We're excited to welcome guest speaker Amy Polefrone, the President/CEO of HR Strategy Group, LLC, a human resources consulting firm that specializes in human resources advisory services, compensation services, and customized workforce training solutions.  She will talk to us about - Best Practices for Interviewing & Selection: The Search Committee Model.

    About the Program:

    Session Summary:  I will describe the Search Committee model of interviewing and selection and how this model can improve the hiring process in collaborative and forward-thinking organizations.  This is a very hands-on, practical approach for HR practitioners and managers to use in improving their screening practices, including situational interview questions, use of telephone and video interviews, Search Committee involvement, and alignment to business objectives.

    Session Learning Objective:

    1. After the meeting, the participant will be able to understand and apply the Search Committee model of interviewing and hiring in their own organizations.

    Case studies will be shared and discussed with the audience including how this can be applied flexibly to various positions in an organization.

    • About the Speaker:

    Amy Polefrone, MPA, SPHR is an experienced leader with more than 24 years of experience in human resources. She is the President/CEO of HR Strategy Group, LLC, a human resources consulting firm that specializes in human resources advisory services, compensation services, and customized workforce training solutions. Amy has extensive experience working with clients in high tech start-ups, information technology, non-profits, and other business sectors. 

    Amy received her Master’s in Public Administration from The American University in Washington, D.C., with a focus in international management and human resources. She received her B.A. from the College of Wooster. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and holds the Senior Professional in Human Resource Resources (SPHR) designation, the highest designation available to HR professionals.  Additionally, she is a Certified Veteran Recruiter (CVR) designed to help forward thinking companies improve how they recruit and retain veterans in the workforce.  She regularly speaks to business groups in the Mid-Atlantic region about the importance of sound HR fundamentals and best practices in aligning business and HR goals.

    Prior to starting HR Strategy Group, LLC, Amy taught political science as an adjunct professor at Kennesaw State University, and held HR management positions at major corporations and worked in various HR roles within government agencies.   Amy served as a Presidential Management Fellow through the U.S. Office of Personnel Management from 1993-1995, serving at the U.S. Agency for International Development and NASA-Goddard Space Flight Center.

    Amy and her family live in Ellicott City, Maryland.
